It's that time of year again for a round-up of my 10 most popular posts. Did 2012 fly by as fast for you as it did for me?

It was quite a year for The Yummy Life. This little ol' blog grew beyond my wildest dreams in 2012, and that is entirely thanks to YOU, my Yummy readers and friends. You visited my site, left comments, shared Yummy with your friends, liked Yummy on Facebook, pinned Yummy to your Pinterest boards, tried my recipes and come back and commented again. I am so grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you so much for joining me and the millions of others who have been part of The Yummy Life community in the past year.

You're part of a big world of Yummy readers. It thrills me beyond measure to have so many Yummy friends from around the world. Readers from 214 countries visited The Yummy Life in 2012. That is so cool, it gives me chills. It means that when you are reading my blog, you can be certain that someone across the globe is reading it at the same time. When you leave a comment or share a tip, others who speak a different language are likely to read what you write via an online translator. The internet may have its downside, but what I love about it is how it connects our world. We have a big, wide wonderful world of people who are more alike than they are different, and The Yummy Life community is one example of that. Thank you for being a part of it.

In case you're curious, here are the 20 countries who visited Yummy the most in 2012 (in descending order): United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Netherlands, India, Brazil, Malaysia, Spain, Italy, South Africa, France, Ireland, Poland, Japan...plus 194 more countries!

Hi. I had a go at one of the natural room scents using cinnamon, orange zest, cloves, star anise etc. I kept it going in my fondue maker as you suggested and it did scent a room (my bedroom) in a a subtle way. Very pleasant. I will get around to trying some of the others soon.  :-D

Hi Mary. Glad you enjoyed the simmering scent. I have that same combo simmering right now in my mini crock pot in my kitchen. One of my favorites. :-)

Hi Heike. So happy to hear how much you like the French Onion Soup. I hadn't gotten a lot of feedback on that recipe, so I'm really glad to get your feedback. Thanks! :-)

Hi Marie. Ha! Love being considered the queen of oatmeal! Fitting, I guess, because I eat some version of oatmeal almost every morning.

Loved your pecan sticky buns! Made them for New Years Day breakfast and can't wait to make them again.

Hi Dixie. We had those for Christmas breakfast. Maybe we should make them a New Years tradition, too....can't have sticky buns too often in our house. :-)

Hands (spoons?) down, the refrigerator oatmeal was the greatest recipe of all, from all the blogs I follow.  Simple, tasty, filling, tasty, healthy, tasty and all around a success.  Did I say it's tasty too?  Mango and then a banana with PB2 powder top my list.  Looking forward to more of your great suggestions.

Hi Mollie. I think a lot of readers agree with you, since that was by far my #1 most popular recipe. Thanks so much for the happy feedback and being part of the The Yummy Life community. :-)

Monica, your blog is life-changing!  I love the pictures showing the ingredients, attractive presentations and step-by-step instructions, cooking hints, and even information for buying items to make cooking more successful.  You have breathed life and excitement back into cooking for me.  With that said, I would like to mention your taco bar as a favorite of mine.  I used your recipes for a huge reunion this summer and my family is still asking me to make tacos with your salsa, meats, rices, and taco bowls!!  Now I can say, "I got this recipe from Yummy Life" and my family knows what I'm talking about. You're a household name!

Hi Beth. It's comments like yours that make this blogging gig SO worth it for me. How happy I am that you enjoy my approach to blogging; hopefully there's some kind of method to my madness. :-) Funny that you mention the taco bar. I make some version of that more often than just about any other dinner recipe. I'm a Mexican food nut. So happy you like it, too. Thanks for the lovely comment.

I can't believe the salads in a jar didn't make the top ten! My husband and I eat them every day for lunch as part of our new nutrient-rich lifestyle. I'll have to try some of these others and see how they stack up!

Monica says:
Hi Lisa. Yay! You mentioned one of my favorites, too. I can't tell you happy it makes me to hear that you and your husband like them so much. (They would have been in my personal top 10.) Thanks for the feedback! :-)

Favorite? That is tough, either the overnight refrigerator oatmeal or the salad in a jar.  But I've never used one of your recipes that wasn't a hit!
Reply Posted 5 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Janna. Maybe it's the mason jar thing? Somehow everything seems to taste better in a jar. Or maybe it's just cuter that way. :-) Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. Always appreciated. :-)

The no-cook oatmeal is my absolute favorite!!  I ate that every work morning all summer.  It's so filling and good for you.  I've passed it onto many friends for whom it is a staple now!

I make the slow cooker oatmeal (which I did before, but I like your variations - the cherry/almond is my fav), I make the hash brown cups, I use the spicy rub for my leftover chicken and I have so many more of your recipes just printed out, waiting on me to find time to try them.  THe healthy-ER texas sheet cake is high on my list and the salad in jars, once it's summer time again and I'm ready for lots of cool things to eat.

How about some more slow cooker receipes??  I love to have dinner ready and waiting when all 5 of us finally make it home at 6pm!

Thank you so much from Clovis, CA!!!
