When I was planning my Taste of Britain menu a few weeks ago for my Day with Jane Austen party, I knew I had to somehow include strawberries and cream. I made this low-fat dip in place of heavy cream. Let's face it, there's no perfect substitute for real, rich whipped cream. But this yogurt-based dip is tasty, nonetheless; and it is much kinder to the waistline. It's a perfect snack while viewing the Royal Wedding this week.

Weight Watchers PointsPlus: This dip has 1 point per 2 tablespoons.

This recipe is as easy as it gets. Combine 4 ingredients. Whisk them together. Done.

Here are the ingredients you'll need to make this creamy dip: lowfat yogurt, lowfat sour cream, honey, vanilla. Plus, you need the best strawberries you can find for dipping.

Combine the four dip ingredients and whisk them together. That's it! Put it in the fridge. It will keep as long as the freshness dates on the sour cream and yogurt.

This makes a thick and creamy fruit dip. It's great to have on hand in the fridge for dipping all kinds of fruit--a quick, healthy, tasty snack. I like to serve this with a breakfast or lunch buffet. At my Jane Austen party, it was a mid-morning snack.

Make it a yummy day!

Hi - I am trying to find a healthy alternative to whipped cream, which uses heavy whipping cream. This seems like a possibility. I know it wouldn't be quite as light and fluffy, but do you think this might work? thanks!

Hmmm. That depends on how you would be using the whipped cream. This definitely has a different texture. I think it would taste good on top of pie or in a parfait in place of whipped cream. But, it doesn't have a firm enough texture to use as a substitute when, for example, you might be layering whipped cream between layers of cake or shortbread. I have a recipe on my list to try that uses 1 cup of strained vanilla yogurt and 1/4 cup whipped heavy cream. Whip the cream and fold in the yogurt. That might be a better whipped cream substitute than this dip. Hope that helps. :-)

I'm planning to use it on top of a cranberry bread pudding. Trying to keep it as healthy as possible, so I'm trying to avoid that fat-heavy cream. I'll check out the other recipe you reference. Thanks!

Took this to a party and it was a big hit!  Everyone asked for the recipe.  Thanks so much.  One hint. I like it beater with sweeter fruit.  But it's good on everything.
