flavored water

Say goodbye to soda, juice, and bottled water with these refreshing, healthy flavors! I'm keeping 2-3 flavors of this "spa water" in my fridge now, so I have a variety to motivate me to drink more water.

I was a hardcore Dr. Pepper girl for years. Then I gave up regular soda because of the high sugar content and switched to diet soda. Next we were warned to avoid the chemicals in diet soda; and more recently studies have indicated that diet soda actually causes rather than prevents weight gain (source). Geez. Lots of us moved on to bottled water, but that has landfill and environmental consequences and can be less healthy than regular tap water (source). Juice has more nutrition than soda, but is comparable in sugar, carb, and calorie content (source). Dang. It's hard to keep up.

Simply water
At the end of the day, regular old tap water--or at least a filtered version of it--seems to be the way to go.  I'm fortunate that St. Louis is considered to have some of the best tasting tap water in the U.S. I still prefer the taste of it filtered through a Brita Water Filter Pitcher--we've been using one for years. But, I still don't drink enough water.

Aside from my morning coffee, I honestly forget to drink fluids throughout the day. I know that it's important for my health. I don't dislike water, but I do get kind of bored with it. That was the motivation for starting to make flavored waters.

Subtle flavor without sweetness
These aren't sweet waters, so they'll be disappointing if that's what you're expecting. This is water with subtle flavors infused into it. Water with a little something extra. A touch of flavor--not an explosion of flavor--with little or no sweetness. You've probably had pitchers of ice water with lemon served at restaurants. This is the same idea, but with more variety. Many spas serve fancy waters like these, and it turns out that they couldn't be simpler to make. And, they are oh-so-refreshing.

The KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) approach to Flavored Waters
My natural tendency is to go overboard and overcomplicate things, so I really have to fight that when I'm developing recipes. I read about and was tempted to try all kinds of methods for flavoring water that involve blenders, boiling, specialty infuser pitchers, and lots of different ingredients. But, I know myself. If I truly want to transition completely away from soda & juice and drink more water throughout the day, I have to make this simple so it can be an easy routine for me to maintain. When I read celebrity chef Jamie Oliver's quick and uncomplicated approach to making flavored waters, I was inspired to follow his lead and keep it simple. My easy formula for making KISS flavored waters is to use only fruit and herbs, water, ice, and a jar or pitcher. This is something I can make in a minute or two so I can always have flavored waters on hand in my fridge.

How to make
Naturally Flavored Water

Supplies Needed:

  • fruit -- whatever kind you like (except no bananas); make sure it's good and ripe for maximum sweetness and flavor.  I like to use all kinds of citrus and berries. I also found pineapple and watermelon to work well for flavoring water. If you don't want to buy whole ones, many grocery stores sell small containers of pre-cut fruit.
  • herbs -- these are optional, but many herbs are a surprising complement to fruit flavors; almost any herb will work depending on your personal preference
  • jars or pitchers -- I use 2 quart mason jars primarily, but any 2 quart pitcher will do.
fruit infusion pitcher--I recently purchased one of these--it's another option if you think you'll be making infused waters regularly; a very easy, tidy way to strain fruit from water.
fruit infusion water bottle--I love using this for a portable, on-the-go option.
  • muddler or wooden spoon for mashing fruit and herbs
  • water -- I use filtered water, but regular tap water is fine if yours tastes good to you

Fresh vs. frozen fruit. When in season, I prefer to use fresh fruit. However, when fruit is out of season, the fresh version can be tart or flavorless. Because fruit that is to be frozen is picked at the peak of ripeness, it is often the better option for the best flavor, sweetness, and nutrients. I find this to especially to be the case with berries and peaches.

A variety of fresh herbs. Use whatever herbs you like or happen to have on hand. I picked all of these from my herb garden and have tried them in flavored waters. It's surprising how well they blend with most fruit flavors, and they amp up the refreshing factor of the water. Mint is the most obvious herb choice. I also have tried basil, rosemary, sage, thyme, lavender, and tarragon. All good.

herbs

I'll share some of the fruit and herb combos that I've recently tried for flavoring water. But, honestly, you can combine most fruits and herbs according to your favorite flavors and what you have on hand in your fridge. I'll show you how to make 5 flavor combos. You can take it from there, creating endless flavor combos of your own.

Quantities: The quantities in my flavored water recipes are all for 2 quart jars or pitchers. However, I ran out of the 2 quart jars and used a few 1 quart jars, halving the recipe ingredients. So, don't be confused by the different jar sizes. It's easy to make a full or half batch depending on your jar or pitcher size.

The first 2 waters are
flavored with fruit only (no herbs)

WASH FRUIT THOROUGHLY! The citrus and berries need to be really, really clean to keep contaminants and bacteria out of your flavored water. I recommend organic fruit, if it isn't going to be peeled.

1. All Citrus Flavored Water (adds refreshing tartness to water) -- slice 1 orange, 1 lime, 1 lemon into rounds, then cut the rounds in half. Add to jar, press and twist with a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon. Press enough to release some of the juices, but don't pulverize the fruit into pieces. Fill the jar with ice. Pour in water to the top. Stir it with the handle of a wooden spoon or a chopstick. Put a lid on it, put it in the fridge, and chill.

  • click here to view plastic lids for mason jars on Amazon -- these are long-lasting and easier to screw on and off than the metal rings and lids that come with the jars; they fit all wide-mouth mason jars

flavored water

You can drink it right away, but the flavor intensifies if it's made an hour or two ahead. It's even better the next day. 24 hours later straight from the fridge, the ice still hasn't melted completely in mine. The ice at the top serves as a sieve so that you can pour the flavored water without getting fruit bits in your glass.

2. Raspberry Lime Flavored Water (beautiful color and mildly tart) -- Quarter 2 limes; with your hands, squeeze the juice into the jar, then throw in the squeezed lime quarters. Add raspberries. Press and twist with a muddler to release some of the juices (don't pulverize the fruit). Fill the jar with ice, then add water to the top. Stir, cover, and refrigerate.

Flavored Water

The next 3 waters are
flavored with fruit and herb combos

3. Pineapple Mint Flavored Water (a hint of minty sweetness). Add a sprig of mint to the jar--you can throw in the whole sprig; or, remove the leaves from the sprig, if you prefer to have the mint swimming around and distributing in the jar. Muddle the mint--the goal is to bruise the leaves and release their flavor--don't pulverize them into bits. Add pineapple pieces, press and twist with the muddler to release juices. Add ice to the top and then water. Stir, cover, and refrigerate.

Flavored_Water1_Copy.jpg

4. Blackberry Sage Flavored Water (subtle, refreshing flavor). Add sage leaves to jar and bruise with a muddler. Add blackberries; press and twist with muddler to release their juices. Fill jar with ice cubes, add water to the top, stir, cover and refrigerate.

Flavored_Water5.jpg

5. Watermelon Rosemary Flavored Water (lovely flavor combo). Add a sprig of rosemary to jar and muddle gently (rosemary releases a strong flavor without much muddling). Add watermelon cubes; twist and press gently to release juices. Fill jar with ice cubes, add water to the top, stir, cover and refrigerate.

Flavored Water

Here's the whole gang. It's hard to pick a favorite, because they all have a different, distinctive flavor. The all citrus and raspberry lime are both quite tart (and refreshing!), the watermelon rosemary and pineapple mint are the sweetest, and the blackberry sage has the mildest flavor (that may be because my out-of-season blackberries weren't very flavorful). I enjoyed all of these and love having a variety in my fridge. You can get creative and use this same simple method for combining all kinds of fruits and herbs. Flavored_Water7_Copy.jpg

How long will they keep? Put a lid on them, put them in fridge, and they will keep for up to 3 days. It only takes a few minutes to make several varieties to keep on hand. No more boring water for me!

flavored water

Pour a glass. When there's still ice left in the jar (my ice lasts up to 24 hours in the fridge), it will filter out the fruit/herb bits as you pour the water into a glass. After the ice melts, if you don't want to drink fruit bits along with the water, use a small wire strainer to remove them as you pour the water into your drinking glass. UPDATE: Another option that was suggested by reader Kelley in the comments section is to use a sprout strainer lid made to fit wide mouth mason jars. I bought one, and it works great! (Thanks for the tip, Kelley!)

Flavored_Water8.jpg

Sweeten it up, if you must. If you have a sweet tooth and find these flavored waters undrinkable without some sweetener, go ahead and stir in some simple sugar syrup, honey, agave syrup, or whatever sweetener you prefer. 1 teaspoon of sugar only has 15 calories, so go ahead and add one to your glass. Given that a single can of soda or juice has the equivalent of 10 teaspoons of sugar, you are still way better off drinking slightly sweetened water. If you are hooked on sweet tasting drinks and want to reduce or eliminate sugar or artificial sweeteners, you may need to wean yourself gradually. Unsweetened beverages are an acquired taste. I prefer them now, but it took me awhile to get there.

Great for entertaining! Flavored waters are very popular now, as more people are avoiding soda and juice. Make a variety of flavored waters to offer at your next party. Look how gorgeous they are! Refreshing, healthy, inexpensive, and beautiful. Plus you can make and refrigerate them well in advance of the party.

Basil Lemonade is the best! I had it at a Greek restaurant where I live and it was amazing. To make it I assume that it's the same concept!
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Becca. Oh yum. That sounds awesome. To be more of a lemonade, I think it would probably need more juice and some sweetener, since these flavored waters are, well, watery--more diluted than lemonade would normally be. :-) Pairing basil with lemon is something I need to try now. Thanks for the tip!

Ginger can be kept indefinitely in the fridge if you select a jar small enough to house your ginger and then pour white wine over the ginger so it is completely covered. Smaller jar = less wine. Has no wine flavor

Found this on Pinterest and I must say this is something I am going to try and work out trying. Problem is I don't have an herb garden and where I live can be hard on certain herbs so I'd have buy them at the store along with the fruit. Could you maybe provide some tips for a more budget-friendly approach to this for us non-garden savy people?
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Jeri. You don't have to use herbs at all. So, just sticking with fruit flavors is one option. Or, try just one herb and pair it with several fruits. I think mint would be a good choice. It pairs well with everything.

Natalia says:
Could perhaps use dried herbs (not too much) and steep in a little boiling or hot water for a few minutes first, then add to drink.  Would be different but worth a try.  Especially mint as you can hardly have too much of it.

Hi there, found your blog thru a Pinterest post. These waters look lovely! I wanted to share a tip with you. I too, was trying to drink more water... I had a bottle of it on my desk all day long, but often times, didn't get around to drinking all of it. One day, my coworker told me that she drinks through a straw because it helps you drink more water. So I tried it, I bought one of those 24oz BPA-free cups with the straw in it, AND IT WORKS! I fill that thing up at least twice every day, just in the 8 hours I'm at my desk (that's the equivalent of 6 glasses right there), then when I come home, I have another one that I carry around my apt with me. I'm drinking so much more water now, b/c of this little cup and straw dealeo!! So, anyway, since it was so effortless and helpful to me, I thought I'd pass it along - hope that helps you drink even more! Have a great day!

The sweetness of pineapple is also particularly nice with the astringency of lavender.  I also like cherries and basil together, even adding lime at times.  Kiwi is something I want to work with, and I'm thinking lemongrass might complement it well.

I have never even THOUGHT of using lavendar. Where would you get it to use in water?
Reply Posted 10 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Allison. My grocery store sells lavender with herbs in the produce section. An alternative is to buy it in a small pot at a nursery; again look in the herb section. Depending on the climate where you live and if you have a yard, lavender can be a beautiful, fragrant garden plant, too.
Reply Posted 10 months ago

Just be sure to ue a food grade lavendar since the kind you get for the aroma is often not food grade and is sprayed with some nasty stuff.

I have been obsessed with lemon, cucumber, ginger, mint water this week. :) I'm 6 months pregnant with baby number 4 and I get SO TIRED of plain water! With my first I used to drink Crystal Light... eww! I have found that when my quart of water runs out, I can refill it with ice and water again several times. I just start over every 2-3 days. I can't wait to try your raspberry lime combo. Yum!

What do you do with the left over fruit?
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Michelle. My leftover fruit goes into our composter. After 2-3 days of soaking in water, it doesn't have the flavor or texture to make it something I want to eat. I supposed you could add it to smoothies to benefit from any fiber or nutrients that are left in it. But, don't count on much or any flavor from the water-logged fruit.

And mint is one of the easiest herbs to grow--in fact it takes over other plants and you can hardly get rid of it!  I gave my mom some sprigs (with no roots, but woody stems) and she put them in water to keep them fresh, and after a few days they were developing roots!

KISS can also stand for Keep It Simple Sweetie

While enjoying all the flavor ideas, a new one popped in my head, though I don't know if it would work:  Apple Cinnamon?  Another sweetner idea I might try with the pineapple is cream of coconut?
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Allison says:
Christine, Apple Cinnamon is WONDERFUL!!!! I have been drinking it for a couple of weeks and went in search of other flavors (and found this site!). Cut up your apples using an apple corer/slicer. Cut the slices in half again. I have been adding fruit fresh to mine just to help keep them from turning brown so fast (before I can get into the water). Add a cinnamon stick. My trick for the best flavored water is to use a pot of boiling water to get this one going. I store it in my 1 gallon tupperware pitcher and refill every night for 3 nights (I get 4 days of water from this pitcher).  I hope that you Enjoy!!!

I like the way you posted best - I tried a recipe where it called for blending the cucumber and draining it overnight but it came out way too strong.

I like my water drinks slightly sweetened so I am going to use the stevia my dh is growing in the garden for me as one of the herbs in the drink!

Did you know you can make a rhubarb infusion that is really good as is (with a bit of sweetener) or mixed 50/50 with tea?  Put about a cup of water per rhubarb stalk, with the stalks cut into about 3" lengths, and boil for an hour, then strain out and throw away (or compost) the rhubarb mush.  Lovely rosy red water infused with rhubarb flavor - might make a nice base for the flavored waters in this blog post!

These sound great and I love flavored water but every once in a while I get a craving for something carbonated.  Any ideas about which carbonated type of water would work best with these recipes?  Tonic, seltzer or club?  And brand suggestions would be appreciated too.
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Erin. Great question. I enjoy carbonated drinks, too, and may end up doing a follow up post on that topic. In the meantime . . . tonic water is sweetened, club soda is normally pretty high in sodium, seltzer water is the most neutral tasting. So, if you're just looking to add bubbles, I'd recommend seltzer water. A little tonic water would add some sweetness if that appeals to you. I personally would stay away from club soda because of the high sodium content. Hope that helps! :-)

The SodaStreamer is what you could do for the carbonation....you use regular tap water and add the carbonation to it...so you could carbonate any of these flavored waters and not have to buy the "sodas" and it remains tap or filtered water as the base.

Don't bother with buying bottled fizzy waters, run right out and get yourself a seltzer/soda maker!!! We just bought one three weeks ago and are finding that it has already paid for itself in the savings we are enjoying. Not only does it cost much less per serving (about an 80% savings, at least), we use filtered tap water and it doesn't taste salty or make me feel thirstier as conventional seltzer often does. Last but not least, we are no longer filling up our recycling bin with empties, which has many secondary and tertiary benefits. I am so looking forward to making these infusions with the seltzer, which keeps its fizz for at least 24 hours in the refrigerator. This is going to be sooooooo good!!!

i read all the way down and got a lot of great ideas for combinations. the whole time i was looking for someone to comment about carbonated water! finally down at the bottom, there it was!  a couple of months ago, i purchased from amazon.com, a sodastream water carbonator. it is one of my favorite appliances. requires no electricity. i just fill it up with water from my refrigerator that has been filtered. the water's source is our well which supplies us with delicious pure tested water. the refrigerator makes it cold. then i put it in the sodastream and it carbonates it. we always drank flavored unsweetened carbonated water before but our guilt over the bottles drove us to find another way. the carbonator bottles are available at bed, bath and beyond, from amazon and kohls and from many other commonly found stores. one bottle of co2 lasts about 3 months for us. then you turn in the empty and get a new one. i have added fruit juices to it but never muddled fruits. kind of like making a mojito!

This is lovely. Just one thing, though. If you are going to soak fruits and veggies in water using their skins as well as their pulp/insides, it really needs to be organic because many if not most of the pesticides reside in the skins. Be totally cleansed of pesticides by using organic goodies in your flavored water.

Another tip I came across earlier this year, the key to preventing moldy berries:  "Vinegar!  If you are buying your berries, when you get them home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar and ten parts water.  Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around.  Drain, rinse if you want, and pop in the fridge.

You can also wash your produce with a bath of water, apple cider vinegar, a dash of baking soda and a few squeezes of lemon juice and swich together, then soak 2-3 mintues to wash contaminants off your food.  Keep baking soda in a majon jar with holes punched in the lid on the sink."

I printed these tips and taped them to the inside of one of my cupboards for easy reference.

Judith says:
I thank you so much for this information, Christine.
But I would like to point out that it is impossible to wash pesticides and contaminants that have penetrated to the pulp or inside of the fruit. And they are always present inside the fruit. So do buy organic whenever at all possible.

Looks really good, I thought there should be some way to flavour water naturally, just was not sure what to do. Except for squeezing a lemon in your water. I had started drinking some cranberry juice no sugar no sweetner with a bit of soda, a soda that was cranberry with less salt. But I still think it's fattening. I like cranberries, I wonder what cranberries would taste like. I was at a party and they had orange juice with just whole cranberries in it. It was not bad, but too much orange juice. I make a really nice Sun tea, have you ever tried Sun tea instead of ice tea. It is brewed in the Sun in a glass container actually a huge pickle bottle. You add lemonade but you could just probably add fresh lemon. Thanks for posting. Really enjoyed, have some mason jars, I might order those plastic lids though, my mason jars have metal lids. I don't like that too much with liquid. Can't wait to try.

My hubby likes having juice with dinner but also agrees that we need to drink more water so I'm hopeful this will be a good alternative for both of us. :) I'm thinking of putting some cheesecloth over the pour spout on my pitcher to catch the little bit of pulp from the oranges that wants to come through, but otherwise it is a smashing success!

I don't drink soda at all but crave the carbonation. All I drink is either seltzer water or club soda. Do you think it would work to make these with the carbonated water?  I'm getting thirsty just thinking about it. They all sound so good. Looks like I'm going to have to start an indoor herb garden now too.
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Renee. Yes, this will work with carbonated waters. But, it takes a while for the fruit flavor to infuse into the water. So, I recommend adding a small amount of regular water to the fruit and letting the flavors blend. Then combine some of the flavored water with carbonated water in a glass. That way the carbonation will last while you drink it. If you make a whole pitcher full of carbonated flavored water, it will probably loose its fizz before it all gets drunk.

A small amount of vinegar will provide tartness, and goes well with the citrus flavors.  In small amounts it provides sweetness in cold water.

I have been drinking these things for years but usually use a small amount of fruit juice rather than the fruit into the water.  It has been around for centuries in Central America and is the original drink called Fresca.

And I am wishing I had some right now as I sit here at my desk with some plain old tap water!

This might be a dumb question but what do you do with the fruit after you drink the water? Can you reuse it? eat it? throw it away?  Love the concept but this could get pricey with all that fresh fruit!
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Gina. Not a dumb question at all. I add my water-logged fruit to our compost pile. There is little, if any, flavor left after it has been soaked in water for up to 3 days. I'd love to figure out something else to do with it, but so far I haven't.
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Connie says:
Does the fruit continue to enhance the water further for the whole 3 days?  It might not be as waterlogged after the first day or two. If the fruit has infused well enough after the first day or two it may be suitable for smoothies or in baked desserts like cobblers or crisps.

Does the water need to be refrigerated after its done processing?

Reply Posted 12 months ago

Hi Nikki. Yes, the flavored water needs to be refrigerated. Due to the lack of preservatives, bacteria can form if it is left out at room temperature.

I drink a lot of water as I don't drink soda or sweetened drinks other than OJ.  Love the recipes here.
I make strawberry, mango, kiwi, with Rosemary also lemon, lime, orange with mint.  Am trying many other combinations in quart size jars to see what is tasty to me.  Pineapple, mango with sage and blackberry, blueberry, strawberry with thyme and (in a quart size) a half teaspoon of agave to sweeten just a bit.
Both are great when the weather in San Diego tries to drain you.  I make them in cheap plastic gallon tea makers with spouts that I got at Walmart for about $4 each.

I think I'll be making some of these, trying to get more water and less Pepsi in my system... But I was thinking of using one of those sun tea jars with the spiggot at the bottom.  Might get some fruit pieces jamming up the spiggot, but a good stir of the contents would clear that and redistribute the flavor again.  I would set it out on the counter at home or at work and it would be there where I could see it.  Thanks for the great ideas on flavor combos.  My Bountiful Basket fruits and veggies will be used well!

Leaving it out on the counter after the ice melts could allow bacteria to multiply in the jar.  Better to refrigerate it.

Thanks for posting these recipes.  I only know how to make lemon infused water.  Never even thought of using these combinations.  I'm so excited to make these recipes. As far as sweetening the water with a sugar syrup, why not just use regular sugar?
Reply Posted 12 months ago

Hi Toya. It's fine to stir in regular sugar. The advantage of sugar syrup is that the sugar is dissolved and stirs in more easily, but it's not essential to use it.

For those who want a bit of sweet, with out the calories of sugar and the chemicals of artificial sweetener, try Stevia. Stevia is a naturally sweet herb. you can use the fresh leaf, the dried and powdered herb and there are liquid forms as well.
On the East Coast there are several Wegman's Supermarkets that carry Stevia powder and liquids with out too many additives. We've switched from Equal to Stevia in my household.
Start with just a little. It is much sweeter than sugar. 2 tablespoons of Stevia = 1 Cup of sugar!

If brand names are permissible, we use "SweetLeaf"

what do I do with the fruit when the water is gone?
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Amy.  The fruit has the flavor soaked out of it once it's been in the water for awhile--that's how the water gets its flavor. You could add the leftover fruit to smoothies or blend it and stir it into oatmeal for the fiber or nutrition left, but don't count on it adding any flavor. I'm adding mine to our compost pile.

Morning was reading and enjoying all the great combo tips can't wait to try them all. But I do have a couple of questions if I may:
1) I have a wild lavender plant (at least it smells like lavender) is this okay to use
2) when purchasing herbs (leaves/or dried jars) where is the best place to get them farmers markets or health food stores
I am hoping to get more healthy by getting away from regular fruit juices and bottled vite waters that are on the market already, so any and all helpful hints will be greatly appreciated

Reply Posted 12 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Pauline. I don't know if there's a difference between wild lavender and the kind I have that was purchased at a nursery with their cooking herbs. So, I really can't advise you on that. I'm guessing it would be fine to use, but I can't say for sure. When shopping for herbs, I buy locally at farmer's markets as much as possible. When I can't find them there, I generally buy mine at the grocery store. I prefer to use organic herbs in these flavored waters, since they will be soaking and I don't want any pesticides or contaminants leeching into my water.

These are AWESOME!! My buddy found your site and mentioned it on Facebook through her site's Facebook page, Green Element Wellness, Inc.  I've found great ideas there & now this page looks fantastic too!  Thanks so much!

I was unable to find 2 qt. Mason jars at my local grocery Meijer.  I did find a 2 qt Rubbermaid carafe though.  I lose the "country chic" aspect which I loved, but I've found this to be lighter when full so easier to lift & pour.  It's got an hourglass shape so it's easier to grab.  It also has a pour spot or a strain one in the lid so I can have more or less fruit.

I wasn't able to find a muddler in their kitchen area there nor Kroger, so I think Ill have to go online and get one of the ones you mentioned.  In the meantime, I've improvised and used the backend of our ice cream scoop.  It works more or less.

We try to only have soda once in a while and do juice here & there.  But my hubby & I are trying to lose weight so this is a great option!  So far we've tried All Citrus (Yum!), Pineapple Mint (BIG hit at a baby shower last Sunday) & Blackberry Sage (Really good!  Hubby doesn't like sage but the girls at the shower & I loved it).  I changed the "Raspberry Lime" up to Raspberry Mint & it might be my fave so far. I took a gamble today and did Strawberry Peach Mint.  Delicious!  Starting to think there isn't a bad one!  I use filtered water & organic fruit & herbs.  Today we were short on supplies so I had to use canned peaches (in their own juice, which I drained off) - still good!  Thanks for this great idea!

I also wanted to chime in with the experience I had trying this out this weekend. I tried 4 1-quart batches to see what I liked. The raspberry lime was a bit too tart for my taste, but the strawberry lemon was nice. The plum-tarragon was also delicious, but the plums were a bit short of ripe, so I got a lot of tarragon and not much plum. The clear winner, though, was some super-ripe canteloupe and fresh basil from my garden.  This was a great idea and I'm definitely going to continue with it!

By the way, the strainer I use is from here: http://www.amazon.com/Swissmar-Stainless-Steel-Cocktail-Strainer/dp/B000I1YIIG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1340152634&sr=8-4&keywords=bar+strainer and it perfectly fits in a regular mouth quart jar.

Hi Kim. I haven't found blueberries to add much flavor to the water. However, if you have some that are really ripe, sweet, and flavorful, they might be better than those I have tried. I would probably combine them with another fruit like nectarines. Thyme or mint are two herbs that I think would pair well.

Hi,
Thank you so much for posting this! I thought the only ways to liven up water was with lemon, so truly this blog is a Godsend!

My question is why do you fill up the container with ice, then pour in the water instead of just mashing the fruit and filling the entire thing with all water.

Do these drinks taste best when they're icy cold, or does using ice make the flavors come out more?

Just curious because sometimes our ice maker acts up and I don't have access to any. :-(
Reply Posted 12 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Em. It's fine to make these flavored waters without the ice. I do think it tastes better when it's really cold, but refrigerating it will get it cold. The ice also serves as a filter when you pour the water--keeps the fruit and herb bits in the pitcher or jar. But, that's not essential either. So, don't sweat it if you don't have ice to use. No problem.

My problem with flavored water is the citruses that often makes my drink bitter after letting it sit in the water for a while (which is a bummer). Any way to avoid this?
Reply Posted 11 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Lori. The bitterness in citrus is in the pith (white part) of the skin. You could try peeling the citrus before cutting and adding it to the water. It won't look as pretty, but hopefully the taste will be more to your liking.

You may have the same problem I do with citrus fruit. If I have them in my drinks the pith gives me indigestion, heartburn and nausea/vomiting, depending on how long/how much pith it's been in the drink.

I drink tons of water, and these ideas look great! I was wondering, could I reuse the fruit in the mason jar and put more ice and water in it a second time? How many times could I refill it if I can reuse it? Thanks!
Reply Posted 11 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Missi. Sure you can refill with more ice and water as long as there is still flavor left in the fruit. Eventually all of the flavor will get soaked out of the fruit, and it varies with different kinds of fruit. Citrus seems to have the most staying power.

Hi Liz. If you're having a hard time pouring them into a glass neatly, you might want to try using a funnel. The straining lids also slow down the flow and make it easier to pour. There are links to them on the sidebar product lists, if you'd like to see what they look like.

Sure, Bobbie. Different fruits have different staying power, but  you can top these off a time or two until the flavor is too dilluted. I've found citrus to last the longest, flavor wise.

Hi there!  I love this idea.  We are having a "Pampering Night" for the women at my church and I am thinking of having a couple of your flavored waters on hand for refreshment.  My question is, how do you think these would work in those fancy drink containers with the spiggot (sp?).  Has anyone tried this.   Would the muddled fruit cause the spiggot to clog?  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thank you so much for sharing these recipes...I am looking for ways to help overcome my soda addiction.  I think this just might work.
Reply Posted 11 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Cathy. That's a really good question. I've never made this in drink containers with spigots, but I HAVE seen flavored waters served that way at spas. This is a guess....I think if you don't muddle the fruit and herbs too much so they stay in bigger pieces that it should work fine. If you try it, I'd love to hear how it works for you. Love the "Pampering Night" idea. Fun!
Reply Posted 11 months ago

Hi Monica,
Our "pampering night" was really successful.  The flavored waters were a wonderful addition.  In regards to the clogging of the containers, the "all citrus" water didn't have any problems.  However, I used strawberries instead of raspberries in the "raspberry-lime" water and had some clogging.  All I had to do was give it a stir and things were fine.  Thanks again for sharing these recipes!

Has anyone got suggestions on how to serve this for a party? How do you pour it out, or ladle it, or?
Reply Posted 10 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Cindy. If you make the water in mason jars, I think the easiest way to pour/strain it is to put strainer lids on the jars (you can see what they look like in the product list on the right sidebar of this blog post). Or, serve the water in a pitcher. If you add ice to the top, it will filter out the fruit/herbs when you pour.

Before I try to reinvent the wheel, I thought I'd check to see if someone else had already tried this....

Has anyone made concentrated infusion, frozen it in ice cube trays so you can add them to your water bottle to take to work? Been on my mind since 5:12 this morning...yeah...I know...and I'm just wondering what kind of ratios to use to do it this way. I'm sure if I tinkered with it forever I could figure it out, but like I said, rather than reinvent the wheel, I'd check to see if someone had already had success with it!! Thanks for the ideas!!!
Reply Posted 9 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Jan. Love the ice cube idea, but I haven't tried it. I think I would muddle the fruit and herbs (might need to cut them up more so they'll fit in the cube compartments), put them in the cubes along with any juice from the muddling, and top off the cube compartments with enough water to fill them.  Figuring out how many cubes to add to a water bottle will take some experimenting. Maybe one or two? Just a guess.

I froze some fruit into ice trays with a little water- raspberries, lime, orange, mango, cucumbers, and then i can add and mix flavors when ever i want. My family is very adventurous, so i figure that i would give them the option of making their own. the fruit is cleaned (vinegar solution) and cut but i think once the ice melts, i have to shake the bottle to get the flavor or smush with an acrylic straw.

I have a hard time drinking enough water at work, and usually end up drinking a ton of soda or coffee. Would these combos hold up well in reusable water bottles, or should I just take a big jar to work with me and stash it in the fridge?
Reply Posted 9 months ago

Hi Joshua. Sure, you can make these up in reusable water bottles. It's a bit harder to get the ingredients into the bottle and clean it out later, but that's the only drawback. I recommend storing them in the fridge to prevent the formation of bacteria in the bottles.

OH! So LOVE your site!  A suggestion to a reader:  purchase 2 or 3 'BPA' free bottles with a straw - not insulated types; add the water and freeze with the straw.  By the time you arrive at work, and leaving it on your desk, it should start to liquify from the bottom up.  Also, I make kefir waters and also add whole Stevia leaves, from my garden, during the 2nd ferment and they sweeten it up without the calories, as the added sugar is consumed in the fermenting... Broken Stevia leaves are also available from your health food stores?  Great suggestions and am going to try the waters and the 'less active fruits with the 2nd ferment in the K.W also.  Great Site!  Thank you Monica!

Thank you AGAIN, Monica, for this great site.  Here are my results and an answer to the ‘kefir water’ inquiry.  My Flavored Water Organic ingredients:  1 box raspberries, lightly squeezed by hand; 1/2 sweet apple, deseeded, sliced thin w/skin; 1/2 lemon, sliced thin, deseeded, w/skin; 1/2 English cucumber, sliced in half lengthwise, then 1/4 thick slices w/skin.  After placing the fruit into a gallon container, w/regular lid, added 1 qt ice and 1/2 gallon water; steeped all for less than 24 hours on the counter.  SO YUMMIE.  Would have preferred only about 8 hours if ‘kefiring’ later.  After straining the solids, placed the Flavored Water into another vessel into the fridge.  The water tasted differently the next day – smoother, refreshing; also Yummie.  The drained solids were placed in a hermetic type 3 liter container with about 1.5 liters of previous kefired water sans the grains and added 1/4 cup sugar for the second ferment;  about 15 hours and then drained off the solids.  Beware at opening: pull the rubber ‘lever’ to release the gasses first? : )  Returned the 'water' to the hermetic jar; closed and left to ‘ferment’ on the counter for another 5 hours and it gained ‘fizzie-ness’:  SO FUN!  Both my spouse and I really enjoyed both types water; however his favorite was the Flavored Water as is mine!  These Flavored Waters are a great new culinary delight to our lives.  Thank you for the delicious challenge...

What is a good fruit combo with lavender? Do you use fresh or dried??
Reply Posted 5 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Melissa. I have tried fresh lavendar with a little vanilla added. Lemon might be good with it, too. I haven't tried using dried herbs, because they crumble and are harder to strain out. If you pour the water through a strainer lid or fine mesh strainer, the dried herbs should work fine.

I was wondering when is the right time to throw away the fruits used in infused water. Wont they start going stale in 2-3 days? Just a question. Thanks
Reply Posted 5 months ago
Monica says:
Hi. Yes, they will spoil eventually. The amount of time can vary widely depending on the type and freshness of the fruit used. I have found that citrus has the most staying power. It's usually good for several days.

Can hardly wait to try the flavored waters.  I question why you say they only keep for three day. Would it be longer if you strained out the fruits and herbs?
Reply Posted 5 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Karen. Straining out the fruits and herbs may extend their life some, but I can't say how much. The amount of time these last can vary widely depending on the type and freshness of the fruit use. Sorry I can't be more specific. This issue isn't generally a problem for me, because my purpose in making these is to encourage me to drink more water--so mine don't last long enough to have an issue with them spoiling.

Mary Davies says:
Sounds delicious, one question though - as I drink a lot of water/fluids already, I know one jar wouldn't last long for me,  How effective (taste-wise) would it be to refill the jar with ice and water, ie can it be refilled a couple of times, or would the flavour be compromised?    I've been using bottled lemon juice, agave and water for months now, but these variations would be a nice change.
Reply Posted 5 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Mary. Good question. Yes, you can refill and reuse the fruit. The number of refills will vary depending on the type of fruit you use. I have found citrus to have the most staying power and can be reused for several refills. When it starts tasting too diluted, it's time to add new fruit. I play it by ear with each batch.

Great ideas.  I have not read all the comments, so someone else may have already suggested using cheesecloth to strain the fruit bits.  Also, a wonderful natural sweetener is stevia - no calories, no guilt.  Make sure to get the PURE stevia though, without added maltodextrin or other "fillers".

I made blueberry flax water and it came out great!  No sweetener added.  I boiled the water and steeped the flaxseeds like I would for flax tea. Then let it cool down to room temperature. Using a quart jar, I doubled the blueberries to 2 cups, then ice and then instead of water, I added the flax tea.  It was perfect.  I drink plain flax tea on a daily basis to combat constipation and it gets boring after awhile and although it's better hot, it's good cold with the addition of fruit.

I tried to make a lemon-lime water but it tasted like the peel/rines...It was not good, what am I doing wrong? I see all the flavored water with lemons in it and it's wonderful...
Reply Posted 4 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Linda. Truth is, you do taste the peel with this flavored water method. The only way to avoid that is to squeeze the lemon/lime juice into the water without putting in the slices that include the rind. You're not doing anything wrong, it's just a matter of personal taste. Some people like the tart/bitter taste of the citrus rind and some don't.

I have decided to stop drinking soda and I came across this and I love the idea....I had a question tho.... I made the citrus water and I was just wondering how long I can still use the fruit? Also I used a blood orange and its yummy....Thank you so much for sharing
Reply Posted 4 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Kala. My answer to your question is going to be vague....you can continue to use the fruit as long as it still has flavor. That can vary between different kinds of fruit, so you just need to taste and stop using fruit when it is longer flavoring the water. I do find that citrus has the most staying power and can usually reuse it for 2-3 days.

One thing I am curious about is "recycling" the fruit after drinking all the water.  Are they any good to use in something?  Any recipes out there to use those fruits?
Reply Posted 4 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Amy. The fruit becomes pretty flavorless after it's soaked in the water. So, I wouldn't count on it adding much flavor to other recipes. You could try including the "used" fruit in smoothies to add some fiber.

Just curious as to how you count the calorie content of the fruit?  Or, if a Weight Watcher - fruits are counted as no points toward calories.  Can sweetner be used instead of regular sugar if sweetness is desired?  Thank you for your answer.
Reply Posted 4 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Barb. These are zero Weight Watchers points, since both water and fruit are zero points. I really don't know a way to know the calories count with laboratory testing. I'm guessing the small amount of flavor from the fruit adds an insignificant  amount of calories.

thanks for the info I do lemon water right now and have tried doing this before but didn't' know how to...on the herbs do they need to be fresh or can they be dried?
Reply Posted 4 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Rebecca. Honestly, I haven't tried this with dried herbs. My best guess is that fresh herbs would work better for flavor and because they will hold their shape better than dried herbs. I think dried herbs would crumble and be harder to sift out of the water. But, as I say, that's just a guess since I haven't tried using dried herbs.

I use chopped ginger and a lemon slice in my filtered water.  I freeze it overnight In my water bottle and then add a tea ball filled with dried mint in the morning, plus a little more water, for which I've left space in the bottle.  Last year,  I bought mint  all winter and hated spending all that money on it, so I dried massive amounts to use this winter and it works great.  I don't freeze the mint in the bottle, though, because the tea ball is made of metal and I didn't want the taste of it in.
By freezing, the water stays cold all day.

I just went to the store tonight and made the all citrus water. I could not wait 4 hours lol, I am drinking my 3rd glass now... I have been researching freezer meals too and found people freeze just about anything. Anyway people were talking about freezing the zest from the fruits and having them on hand later. And since I had all three, I decided to try this before I sliced the fruit. Which actually, I feel let out more of the natural juices out faster. Doesnt look as pretty as your pictures but its just for me, plus I have the zest for a recipe later.

Oh, and don't forget, you can make these ahead of time if you get a good price on the fruits and you can put them in the freezer!  Just make sure to leave room in the jar for the water to expand as it freezes. I freeze mine with no lid, then screw on the plastic lid after the expansion.
If you will be having company, take them out and let thaw until the ice is about 3/4 melted, then keep them in the fridge until your party.

I'm curious, I could drink water easier if it were carbonated.  A lot of companies are making a sparkling water these days with flavors...could I somehow make my own?  I used to love the Walmart brand sparkling water until I learned they used aspartame (sp) in it for sweetness...

Hi Lib. I like flavored sparkling water, too. You can make your own by the glass using these natural flavors. You can buy plain sparkling bottled water , muddle fruit & herbs in the bottom of a glass, add ice, and pour in the sparkling water. Hi, your recipes are great!! i already do this but i make mine in a huge gallon of water and i try to finish a gallon in a day and refill for day 2. But i find that by day 2 i dont really like the taste of the water. it dosnt taste spoilt or bad just different so i was wondering how many times you can refill and reuse the fruits in the jars you use before the loose the nice refreshing taste. Sorry if you have answered this question before, the list of comments where just too long for me to go through. Thanks!!
Reply Posted 3 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Teftef. Yes, the flavor of the fruit becomes more and more dilluted the longer you reuse it. Some fruits can only be used once, and others have more staying power. I've found that citrus can be reused the most. I normally reuse it 2-3 times. Of the herbs, I have found fresh rosemary to be flavorful the longest.

Davis says:
The only fruits I have right now are blueberries, strawberries, and mangoes, any suggestions?also, do dried herbs work as well because if so, I have rosemary :)
Reply Posted 3 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Davis. Mint would be good with all of those. I like sage or rosemary with berries. Regarding dried herbs...they're good for adding flavor. Their downside is that they tend to crumble into small bits that are harder to strain out than fresh herbs. If that doesn't bother you, then it's fine to use dried herbs.

Reply Posted 3 months ago

Hi Michelle. I wish I could calculate calories for you, but there's  no way for me to do that. I don't know how much of the fruit's calories seeps into the water. I would guess it's a very small amount. But without testing samples in a laboratory, I can't be precise about calorie counts. Sorry. But, kudos to you for providing your teens with healthier alternatives to soda.

Reply Posted 2 months ago

Hi Amanda. Citrus peel (the white pith part) does have a bitter taste that isn't pleasant for some. People have vastly different tolerances and preferences for bitter tasting food. It sounds like you are sensitive to that bitter taste in the citrus peel. You might try peeling the citrus before slicing it and adding it to the water. I'm guessing that will be a more pleasant taste for you.

What do you suggest using instead of a muddler in case you can't find one in your town?
Reply Posted 2 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Loni. You can use the handle end of a wooden spoon. That's what I used until I had a muddler. It works almost as well.

I am soooooo excited to try all of these recipes.  I think this would be great to have in the office and just make the lid of the mason jar to hold a straw...spill proof and quicker than straining and you have water at your desk almost all day! :-)  thank you so much for opening a whole new world for me!
I am referring to one of these two DIY projects super cute and easy Thanks again!

I love these recipes! And your pics are unforgettable.

Are you affiliated in any way with a group/company/something called Farmacology Organics? Because I saw a repost this morning on my FB page from their page, and it was a March 26th post about spring cleansing using your photos. The recipes aren't quite yours, but the photos definitely are. When I saw them I knew I had to go searching for you, because I didn't know if they had your permission!

Hi Terri. No, I have no affiliation with that group or page. They used my photos without my knowledge or permission. It's very frustrating and disappointing when this happens. Thanks very much for the heads up and having my back. I appreciate it.

You're very welcome!  I'm just glad I noticed.  This happens too often and can be incredibly discouraging for bloggers who take so much time and care with their sites.

Really happy to see that Farmacology Organics contacted you so quickly and openly!  If only everyone else was so honest!

I just discovered your page last night after being told the image I used was yours. You should know I took the image down. I did not find your image through your website. It is listed as a Google Free Image so you may want to contact Google. I scrolled down and there are several sites with this image on it. After searching I found out yesterday that Google "searches" peopls sites for images and if they are not copy writtne they will post for others to use. I never knew that. I thought Google owned the images. Once again I apologize for this. I would never intentionally do this. My family and I have been making what we use to lovingly refer to as Fruit Waters for years.

Thanks so much for contacting me and explaining how my images ended up on your page. I completely understand. This isn't the first time this has happened, but it is the first time anyone has apologized. I really appreciate your sincerity and integrity. I don't know how Google determined that my images were "free" since all of the content and images on my site are copyrighted. I will contact them. Thanks for the heads up. Clearly, this wasn't your fault. No harm done.

I enjoyed browsing your Facebook page--you have some great content. I just liked your page and I look forward to following your website when it is up and running. We have a lot of overlapping interests (including fruit waters!).

Thanks again for contacting me directly.

Here was what I found out about the "free images" from Google. Google's spider, as they call it, is a mechanism that searches the Internet - all of it - for articles, links, and pictures.  Unless the website operator has placed a request, in the form of a robots.txt file, in the root folder of the website, Google will capture a link to the picture and create a thumbnail for it. It is then considered a Free Image... I thought you should be aware. When I click on the various image of your fruit water it is on numerous pages. So I think the Google Free is responsible... maybe I am just trusting people to not knowing do this..... As for my website. I hope to have it up soon. This Facebook thing has taken on a life of its own. My facebook page was really just intended to be for family, friends and some local herbal customers. In 7 days I went from 84 likes to over 60,000. I am still not sure what happened. I had no plans for a blog. I am planning on placing the herbal products I make on the web. Now the demand far exceeds what I had intended. Just my hubby and me so this is really crazy for us....Green Blessings Tamara

Awesome stuff!  Have been trying to 'enjoy' water and have found that the bottled ones we can buy often have lactose in them (we are lactose intolerant) - how do you get milk sugar into water?? So over past couple of days we have tried some of these - the pineapple and mint (less mint next time but yum), boysenberry, and now have just made cucumber and mint, and a strawberry -cant wait to see how they work out

Thank you so much for posting this! I found out about overnight oats on another blog, and saw your variation. Then I started looking around your blog, which is great might I add, and saw this!

I remember they had this at the Marriot in San Diego. In a large chilled glass water dispenser with Apples, Oranges, Lemons, Limes, and some type of Berry. It was unbelievable refreshing.

Now since I found this, and since I remembered how good it is, I make sure I have a pitcher full of flavored water in the fridge at all times! Shame my fridge doesn't have a bigger door, as I need to get another small pitcher since 1L isn't enough!

Do you have any ideas on how I can store more, in something else other than a large jar that won't fit in my fridge (tall and narrow). I would like it to be glass, I think pyrex bowls would leak??

Thanks again!

Monica says:
You could use smaller jars that will fit in your fridge--two 1-quart jars instead of one 2 quart jar.

Made pineapple mint and it is so good! I made a gallon because my daughter loves the stuff too and found one fresh ripe pineapple is perfect for a gallon. You must try the pineapple slicer. It is the one best gadget I've ever used. This is the one I have.

What about carbs in the water fromthe fruit juices - diabetic looking for alternatives but don't want to worry about the carbs.  There are none in crystal light.

Thanks
Reply Posted 2 months ago
Monica says:
Hi Paige. I don't have any way to measure the amount of carbs that are added to the water from the fruit. It would be a very small amount since these are mostly water, but I don't know how much.

Hi Monica I was wondering if there was a store or franchise that sales this water. I am very interested. I believe peope in my community could benefit from this water. I live in the Houston, Texas area

Hi Sybill, I've never seen this sold in stores. There are, of course, fruit flavored waters in stores. But, I haven't seen them made with fresh fruits and herbs...probably because they would have a short shelf life.

Jami says:
Hi there!
We recently bought a pitcher at Costco (it came with two 2-quart pitchers and a basket to hold the fruit that screws into the lid).  The little pamphlet that came with it says to fill the basket up with whatever fruit you want and to fill the pitcher up with hot water (not boiling) and put it in the fridge to chill.  Every recipe I've seen says to just fill it up with regular water (not hot)....what's the difference between making it was hot vs. cold?  Thanks!!
Reply Posted 4 weeks ago
Monica says:
Hi Jami. Using hot water will make the flavor permeate the water faster. Trouble is, though, that heat also destroys nutrients in the fruit or herbs. For that reason, I personally prefer using cold water.

I find that citrus water begins to taste like the rind. Is there any way for that to not happen other than cutting off the rind before making the water?
Reply Posted 4 weeks ago
Monica says:
Hi Jada. I don't now of a way to avoid the taste of the rind without only adding only the zest to the water.

Found you through Pinterest & am loving this post and the blog.  I have been making the "lemon" water this week...because we are at the bottom of our grocery barrel and it was the only thing I had on hand :)....and am loving it! (Especially considering it was hard for me to choke down 1L a day, let alone 3 or 4!!)
My 2-year old is now requesting I fill her cup with MY water! It's a hit!

Anyway...couple of questions:
1. How do you get the MOST out of your fruit? Citrus fruits are expensive where I live. If I can store flavored water for up to 3 days, would it be a reasonable assumption that I can just add more water to the empty jar? (Yes. I realize the flavor may not be as intense. Just wanting to get the most out of my money.)

2.  I'm thinking of trying a Strawberry-Kiwi combo (and read somewhere about an apple/cinnamon - which may be interesting as a cold drink).  Reading through some of the suggestions begged the question....could you maybe, pretty PRETTY please do another post that has some flavor combinations suggested by your readers? Just a list? I know...I could just write them down as I read...but it would be an awesome post in list format that we could print.

Keep up the good work!

Amber. I am with you on the reusing. I have been making these waters for a few weeks now and they are great. I reuse my fruits for 2 days. As I finish the water I add more. Like you said the flavor is not as strong as the first one but depending on the fruit you can still get some good flavors. These are so good even my two year old son loves to drink the water.

Monica says:
Hi Amber. Like Jason, I reuse my fruit for a day or 2--as long as it is still adding flavor to the water. Love your idea of another post with flavor combos suggested by readers. I'll work on that! :-)

Reply Posted 3 weeks ago
Monica says:
Hi Kristy. Hmmm. Well, they'll help you lose weight if you drink these waters instead of soft drinks or other high caloric beverages. However, I don't believe the waters themselves promote weight loss; at least not that I know of.

Try using Bee Balm (or Monardo ) to flavor the water. It tastes like lemon! The leaves are used to make tea but the flowers are really a magnet for hummingbirds. I love to suck on the ends of the flower for the sweet nectar and the leaves smell wonderful. Its sold wherever perennials are sold, but I get mine from a catalog. It loves sun and may spread like crazy in good soil. I grow it to attract the hummingbirds.

So once the water is done can I keep adding more water to the combo for a few more times? Or should I replace the fruit each time it finishes?  Not sure if the fruit would go bad being in ice and the fridge.
Reply Posted 6 days ago
Monica says:
Hi Nick. Sure, you can keep reusing the fruit a few times. As long as the fruit is still adding flavor, it should be fine to reuse it for 2-3 days.

I just made kiwi strawberry and it's excellent! I can't wait to try the blackberry sage one. I have a composter at home and will throw the unused pulp in there, however is there any other suggestions other than throwing the leftover pulp away?
Reply Posted 6 days ago
Monica says:
Hi Karina. Some people have added the leftover pulp to smoothies. It doesn't have much flavor left, but there is still fiber and perhaps some trace nutrients.
